YES ON K AND P SCHOOL BONDS

Two North County school districts are seeking significant amounts of money in bond measures. San Marcos Unified is asking for $287 million with Proposition K, and Encinitas Union for $44.2 million with Proposition P. The districts have lists of the needs, what will be done at each school and the anticipated cost. Their arguments are compelling. more>>

SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES TALK ISSUES AT FORUM

The eight people running for three seats on the Encinitas Union School District Board of Trustees mostly seemed to agree Monday when asked questions about a variety of topics as part of a candidates forum. All of the candidates stressed the need to be fiscally conservative, especially as schools in California are facing unprecedented spending cuts at the state level. They all also said they support Proposition P, the $44 million school construction measure the district is asking voters to pass Nov. 2, though some said they had concerns about how the money might be spent. more >>
